What a couple of weeks. I got some sort of a cold that caused my voice to go out in time for the last weekend of the show. Let me tell you, it’s really hard to be bitchy when your voice sounds all squeaky and froglike. At least by closing night it had more of a sexy, throaty thing going on.
Then, I had nearly a week of (almost) good health. Saturday morning, I wake up for work. I felt a little crappy. I chalked it up to morning grogginess. I certainly didn’t think it qualified me to call in to work. I proceeded to get ready for work. I was set to go when I got the sudden feeling I was about to be reacquainted with last night’s dinner. After what felt like an eternity of heaving, I re-brushed my teeth and G drove me in. I found the manager on duty who sent me home to get better. Back in the car and back home I went. I made it as far as the sofa where I plopped down, still in my uniform polo. G brought me a barf bucket, and I proceeded to drift in and out of consciousness. My joints started to hurt, so I dragged myself to bed in hopes it would help. Eventually the remains of my dinner came back, and after a few rounds of dry heaves throughout the day, I felt I could handle liquid. I had G start me off with popsicles, and eventually made the leap to Jell-o water. I swapped myself between the sofa and bed, hoping that the other would make me feel better. The morning of Easter Sunday rolled around, and I still felt like hell. I called in to work and spent the day horizontally until it was time for dinner. I managed to make myself presentable in a full circle skirt in black pinwale corduroy with watercolor flowers and beading, a black fitted tee, fishnets, and black patent shoes. We made our way to my brother-in-law’s place, where I made it up the stairs and to the sofa, where I spent the rest of the time laying down, except for the portion where I was propped at the table. I finally managed to down some solid food, and kept awake to watch Raising Arizona. Back at home, pjs were adorned, and I started anew the rotation between sofa and bed.
Monday, I didn’t have to call in, it was my day off. Since I kind of screwed G on our usual Easter bunny gift festivities, I made myself presentable and ventured out to see what Easter bargains were available. I managed to find a few things before I had to run home and get horizontal again. I wasn’t heaving, thank the Gods, but I was so very, very nauseous. I tried to partake in our usual Monday night karaoke, but just couldn’t manage it for long. On top of the nausea, pain crept in. By Tuesday morning, I couldn’t straighten up or out my stomach hurt so much. I called in (again) and decided maybe it was time to try going to a doctor. No luck. I tried for Wednesday. Nope. The earliest available appointment was Friday. So, when G was done with work, he took me to Urgent Care. The best guess the Dr. had was that I had some sort of infection (because of the pain) and that while it had cleared up, it triggered my gastritis (their best guess of what my chronic stomach condition is). I was sent home with a prescription for Prilosec, and a note excusing me from work. Wednesday I made it into the coffee shop. I t was a struggle to get through the day, but I did it. Thursday, I made it back to the old full time job. It was nice to be welcomed back. I was told I looked much better, and that lots of people were worried after seeing me Saturday. It was nice to feel appreciated. However, the next four days kicked my ass. I think my body was trying to tell me that just because I was horizontal for four days, it didn’t mean I was rested.
I had this last Monday off. I slept until 12:30. I rolled out of bed, showered, and met G for lunch. I came home, lay down, and slept until G got home from work. So much for catching up on cleaning or enjoying the sunshine. I still hurt, however. I was pretty sure that the right half of my back was trying to secede from the rest of my body. So, yesterday I got a massage. It is so awesome to have a friend who also happens to be a massage therapist (and a professional* one at that)! He also happens to be one of my best friends, so we hung out after, eating dinner and watching Good Night and Good Luck. (Good flick, by the by.)
Today, I’m finally feeling almost human. I’m thinking I may actually get the windows watched and open this afternoon. Perhaps I’ll even do a bit of spring cleaning inside before heading outside to tidy up the patio and porch. Perhaps even a trip to the hardware store for some Preen and some tree-killing potion. No, I’m not excited about that prospect, but a maple tree has set up shop in one of our window wells, and it must go before it causes too much damage. That and I just don’t have enough spare time to keep up on weeding the patio…hence, the Preen.
Ugh. What a long winded way to say I’m back in action. Sorry if you haven’t heard from me from a while. This is why. Oh, and that our internet was out from Friday morning to Monday night.

*When I was on vacay, I came across a personal ad in the Metro Times touting UNPROFESSIONAL MASSAGE. I gave a copy to my massage therapist friend, just to give him shit. My sis and I still giggle over that ad. We make sure to point out that while our massages may be amateur, they are completely professional.

just because it's cool (well, sort of)

SO, if you know my real name, and go to imdb.com and type it in, you will find my listing, complete with tiny resume.

There isn't much in the way of info, because since I'm not a celebrity, I don't have all those publicists, and bodyguards, and unlisted numbers and such....

just thought you might find it interesting!

So, here I am, my second day in a row off, and I am exhausted. Exhausted to the point of narcolepsy. I thought I could rest up yesterday, and get some shit done today. However, I think my fun time last night, combined with meeting my boy for lunch today has kicked my ass. I shall try to do a brief rundown of what's to come here at Narcoleptic Squirrel, then nap, so I can fill you all in.

Well, I closed The Women this weekend. I sort of miss it. I love the script, and I am fortunate to have had an opportunity to play a great character. I made some great connections, and got a chance to work with a director I really like and respect. There were some bumps along the way, but I learned some things so I think it balanced out.

There's a show opening this weekend that I auditioned for a while back. At the time I thought it would be wonderful to close a show and head right into another tech week. Hahahaha. If my only job were theatre, I could do it. But having a mental illness makes everything kick my ass a little harder. I am so wiped out by the run, that I am relieved not to have rehearsals, much less tech.

I am dealing with my new position at work. I love my company, I love many of my coworkers, I love our product. What I do not love is my direct manager. Ugh. Must be careful, however...I really don't want to be deuced, yo.

From preciously mentioned production, I got a job. It pays and everything!!

Am addicted to a new weekly karaoke habit. It replaces Movieoke, now that it's once a week. It's such a fun place, and I like the people. It's low key, no pressure, and they make me feel like a rock star!!

Geoff's birthday recently passed. I will have a tangent about people relating to that. Is it that hard to RSVP? I'm not even talking in a timely fahsion at this point...just to say whether you can make it or not. With a month's notice, you have plenty of time to make arrangements. Sorry, when you tell us an hour or two before the party you have a prior commitment, I have a really hard time believing you. But, the party was fun, and I am happy the people that came did, they are super fun, and a loving bunch that we are lucky to have in our lives. Hopefully, my tired ass will get some of the pictures developed and up soon.

As Easter approaches, I'm realizing that the more I know about religions, and the symbolism surrounding them, the more annoying it is to me to see how Christian religions take over Pagan symbols, and distort them to fit their needs. Yet, the pagans are going to hell. Rrrrriiight.

Umm...I think those are the rants I have on my plate. Oh, and a theatre review....and I need to rework an old monologue for an upcoming audition.

more later, yo!
